Scarlet Parole- Meet The Author
We had the pleasure of speaking to the author behind our newest Manga publication, Scarlet Parole, today!
Hirahashi-Tofu is a 25 year old marginalised creative, who uses manga and art as a way of self-expression and exploration. Throughout this interview they share their insight into the publication and themselves.
Scarlet Parole is a manga that follows 3 different stories. All three are full of love, life, hope, magic, sorrow but above all else- adventure!
What are your interests and hobbies?
I always read books- especially philosophy, history and comic books in my spare time. I also love watching films, traveling, and playing video games.
What inspired you to make this specific book, Scarlet Parole?
In the beginning, I planned to draw a special story about a kemonomimi girl. Then I set this story into the background of the UK in the era of the reformation because I have lived in the UK for many years and find history, particularly this part of british history, very interesting. I didn’t hold any complex motivation to draw this story, I just wanted to put it out into the world!
What is your favourite part of the book?
PG 28- the scene of Maridant’s mood here…
What do you love about Manga?
Like the many manga artists before me, I think that it is a media which can narrate new stories. I would rather be a creator in the process of creating manga than creating anything else. I love capturing moments that move towards a dramatic future. The real original art is our unique life though, our life is like a stream through the manga panels.
If you could describe your book in three words, what would they be?
Silently ‘insane’, lyrical and mellifluous.
What do you hope people take away from this book, Scarlet Parole?
Farewell is not a sorrow thing. It is very ordinary in life, and maybe it also means a new possibility.
